According to the Oklahoma Open Records Act, public records maintained by government agencies in counties across the state can be accessed by members of the public. Oklahoma County gives access to property records, court records, inmate records, arrest records, and vital records. The Oklahoma County website provides a webpage for public records requests. Vital records such as birth certificates and death certificates are not obtainable at the county level in Oklahoma. They can only be obtained from the Office of Vital Records at the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Applicants for vital records must be registrants of the records, their next-of-kin, or legally authorized persons. The Department of Health charges $5 to process birth certificates and $10 to process death certificates.

Oklahoma County court records are also available from the Oklahoma City Municipal Court. In addition, court records can be obtained from the Oklahoma County Court Clerk, who is the designated custodian of court records. The County Clerk's website allows county residents or other interested persons to make court record requests online. The office of the County Court Clerk takes ten working days to process requests and notify applicants about the status of their requests.
Applicants for court records will be required to fill in the case number, the year in which the case was adjudicated, the parties to the case, and the title of the case. Applicants who want to receive certified court records must provide a postal address, as the County Clerk's office does not return certified copies by email. The Oklahoma County Court charges $1 for printing the first certified copy of a court record. Additional pages will be charged at $0.50 per page. The Oklahoma County Detention Center provides a Resident Search tool on its website that enables interested persons to find inmates. Persons searching for an inmate record will be required to enter the name of the inmate and their booking number, if available. The search results will show the inmate's name, age, arrest date, offense, mugshot, and bail amount. Additional information available in the inmate record includes the inmate's court dates and legal status. The Oklahoma County Detention Center holds inmates who are either awaiting trial, awaiting transfer to other detention facilities, or serving short-term sentences. Oklahoma County also houses the Clara Waters Community Corrections Center, located in northeast Oklahoma City. It provides a variety of programs for its all-male inmates, such as substance abuse treatment, opportunities for the Public Works Program, and work release schemes.

Arrest records which have been sealed by court order are not available to the public in Oklahoma County.
