Comanche County adheres to Oklahoma's Open Records Act, which mandates that government agencies provide access to public records. Per Oklahoma law, vital records such as birth certificates and death certificates can only be processed by the Office of Vital Records at the Oklahoma Department of Health. The Department provides an online form for submitting requests. Requesters must be parties to the vital records being sought, although family members and legal representatives can also file requests. Requesters must provide valid proof of their identity. The Department of Health charges $5 to provide birth certificates and $10 to provide death certificates. Vital records can either be ordered online or delivered to the requester by mail. The Office of Vital Records typically takes two working days to deliver birth or death certificates.

Comanche County also has the Lawton Community Corrections Center, located in southwest Lawton. The Lawton Community Corrections Center houses inmates who are preparing for reentry into society.
